Eternity in Our Hearts
This pencil, colored pencil, and watercolor art piece titled “Eternity In Our Hearts” represents the contrast between eternity and mortality. It is inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:11—“He has set eternity in our hearts.” I chose to draw a self-portrait in the center to make it personal, grounding the composition in my own experience. The abstract elements in the background reflect God’s incredible creativity, showing how limitless and vibrant His design is. The contrast between the detailed realism of my face and the expressive, free-flowing strokes around it symbolizes the tension between our temporary lives and the eternal nature of God. I placed the verse encircling my head to represent how the awareness of eternity is always present in our hearts and minds. Through color, texture, and form, I wanted to capture the beauty of God’s creation and the deep longing for something beyond this world that He has placed inside each of us.
